The Pride of Being Recognized

I am not a boastful person. However, when I received this email, I wanted to share it. The 2005-2006 school has been extremely difficult for me. I have endured many challenges in my classroom that has tested my patients and my will. I have admitted to feeling lost, helpless and all alone. It seemed as if no one noticed my struggles. However, I was wrong. The Autism Specialist noticed and this is what she wrote to my principal, assistant principal, and ESE Specialist:

Inclusion at its Finest!

Castle Hill has a well-kept secret. Kimberly Ehlers is a first grade, general education teacher who fosters a true inclusion model within her classroom. She uses many inclusion strategies and accommodations to meet the diverse needs of her students. Each student, within her class has grown academically, socially and emotionally. An integral part of her success is due to her commitment to utilize visuals, schedules, reinforcers, and a calm, accepting tone within her room. She is open to listen to new ideas and implement them for the good of her students.

Kim’s hard work does not go unrecognized and we are lucky to have such a fine teacher in the North Central Area.

We hope this article makes it to press for our area newsletter.

This is just what I needed to get me through till the end of school!

43 days left, but who’s counting!
